"Everyone discusses my art and pretends to understand, as if it were
necessary to understand, when it is simply necessary to love "
(Calude Monet).
"T5 Art
Series" (a series of more than 70 images) is part of the mobile phone photography instagram project that
consists of 2 additional series, "Today's Green Field" and "Road
Art".
The photographs for this series
have all been taken in and around London Heathrow's Airport Terminal
5.
For this series, the ground and
sky, as practical opposites, have become the focus of my attention, as I
find myself often looking to a very visually rich floor or a busy Heathrow
sky.
As the aircrafts land and take
off, barbed wire cutting across the sky contrast too with the idea of
freedom often associated with flight and wide open free skies. And
while the luminosity and contrasting shadows of Terminal 5 offer me a
rich visual playground to feast on, in this series I pay more attention to
the beauty contained within those aspects that are often considered of no
real value beyond their practical functionality.
There is so much going on at
Heathrow's Terminal 5 that few manage to step out and really look around, up or
down, and see in a different manner...And that is precisely the driving
intention behind T5 Art, to simply offer a different way of looking!
As I say in relation to the Road
Art Series, T5 Art
also plays with the relativity of meaning, context and content, and attempts
to highlight the absolute and universal within our surroundings inherent beauty
where too
often seems to go unnoticed.
